Performance Task – GRASPS
Goal ~ You
will fill out a job application. You will explain why you should be hired to
become a community helper in your school or town community. You will explain
how you will help the communities by doing your job.
Role ~ You
are looking for a job as a community helper. You will find out the jobs of
different community helpers by asking questions to people working in the school
and your neighborhood and explain the skills they would need to do their jobs.
Audience ~ You
will be presenting your job application to first grade students in the school
cafeteria. You will dress in appropriate clothing and explain why you should be
hired for the job.
Situation
~ The first grade classes are
reviewing about their knowledge on community helpers for an upcoming test. They
would like to host a pretend job fair for kindergartens to represent the
different community helpers in their school and their neighborhood. You will learn about the different community
helpers, their jobs, how they help your community, and the reason you should be
considered for that job.
The pretend job fair will serve as an open call casting for a play that
the first grade classes will present on PTA family community night.
Product/Performance ~ On
your job application, you will write in your name, age, grade correctly. You
will show the first graders everything you learned about the community helper
of your choice. You will role-play the jobs of your community helper and
explain why you can do this job.
