Performance Task – GRASPS

 

Goal:   Your goal is to acquire votes to be elected as one of the elected official, such as the president, the mayor, or the governor.

 

Role:  You will be an elected candidate to represent the citizens of the United States.

 

Audience:  You will be reporting to the citizens of the United States who are your classmates.

 

Situation:  It is the year 2012 and you are a candidate for one of the elected official position (president, mayor, or governor).  You are on the first campaign trail and are required to write a persuasive speech to the citizens of the United States.  You need the citizens’ vote in order to become the elected official.  The challenge involves convincing your classmates that you are the best candidate for the position. 

 

Product/Performance:  You will write a letter and present it to the class as to why they should vote for you to become the president, the governor, or the mayor.  You must explain your roles as this candidate and what you will do in order to accomplish these goals.  You must include key vocabulary and at least five facts that are related to the elected official.  See rubric.
