Performance Tasks –
GRASPS
Goal - You will find out the uses of a calendar; how we use it to plan activities for each day, month, and season. You will see how the calendar is organized and be able to identify the days of the week, months of the year, and the four seasons.
Role - You will be a weather reporter. You will create a four (4) section chart with pictures showing the order of the four seasons in one year, the months of the year that fall in those seasons, and the days of the week in sequence.
Audience – You will be asked to do a demonstration to kindergarten students at a nearby elementary school.
Situation - The kindergarten students are learning about the importance of a calendar. They need to know the names of the days of the week and how many days are in one week. They also need to know the names of the months of the year and how many months make a year. It is important for them to know how to dress during each season, and how the seasons bring changes. Your job is to be a weather reporter and demonstrate to use a calendar, how they can tell one season from another, and what they should wear during the seasons.
Product/Performance - You will create a chart using pictures and craft materials, showing how a tree changes during each season. You will attach the months of the year that fall under each season, and place the days of the week across all sections at the bottom of the chart in order of sequence. You will share with the students what happens to trees throughout the year, and how human beings have to wear proper clothing.
