Goal
You are to design and create a model of the sky. You can choose to create
a day sky or a night sky. If you choose
to create a day sky, you will illustrate what things are seen in the sky during
the day. If you choose to create a night sky, you will illustrate what things
are seen in the sky at night.
Role
You are a designer and an artist. You will create a model of either the
day or night sky showing what you know about the things you see in it.
Audience
Not only will you share your model with your classmates and teacher, your
model will be displayed at Fernbank Science Center, during their Sky Exhibit.
Situation
Ms. Skymodel, the owner of Fernbank Science Center needs your help!
Someone stole the models from the Sky Exhibit, which starts next week! She
needs your help to create a collection of day and night sky models. Since she
came to talk to us earlier in the week about the sky and the things we see in
it, she knows that our class will be perfect to design the new models!
Product/Performance
You will choose whether you would like to create a night or day sky
model. You will then work on your model individually, using the materials
provided. You will focus on the things seen in the sky and how the sky looks.
When you are finished, you will share your model with the rest of the
class. Your sky model will then be
displayed at Fernbank Science Center. As a field trip, we will attend the Sky
Exhibit. Family and Friends will be invited so you can share with them your
models that are on display!
