Assessment with a Purpose
Just the term "assessment" can bring a nervous twitch in the neck of both the teacher and the student. It's no wonder since standardized test results have a high impact value in the educational arena. This narrow focus on what students know can sometimes mask the pure essence of assessment. Educators must think of assessment as finding out what students know and if their students understood the information they were taught. More simply put would be for the teacher to say, "Did they get it?" Students need to think of assessment as an opportunity to show what they know. When these views of assessment are embraced, assessment will be a welcomed part of every daily lesson. ASSESSMENT RESOURCES
