Goal: Your task is to represent part of a
plant. You will write a list of facts that you will recite about the function
of your part. You will also design a costume based on your part of the plant.
Role: You are part of a botanical garden. You
need to write a narrative/list of facts about the functions/job of your part of
the plant. You will also design a small costume that represents what your part
looks like. When your button is pressed, you will come “alive” and tell about
the job of your part of the plant.
Audience: Your audience is another first grade
class. You will be informing other first graders about the different looks and
functions of different flowering plant.
Situation: As a feature in a botanical garden, you
are in charge of informing other students about plants and their use in our
ecosystem.
Product: Your group of five students will choose a
flowering plant and then each student will pick a specific function of that plant
(seed, root, stem, leaf, flower).You will dress as your part and write facts
about the function to your plant. Then, you will tell your audience how your
plant part functions. Lastly, you will exhibit the visual characteristics of
your part through your costume.
Standard: Your facts must include the function,
importance, and characteristics of the specific plant part. Your costume must
reflect the appearance of your plant part.
