GRASPS: Fun At the Zoo Second Grade Science Life Cycles

Performance Task – GRASPS
Goal – You will create and provide developmental
charts on living organisms. You will also observe and monitor the life cycle of
various living organisms.
Role – You will be a zoologist. You will observe and keep data on your living
organisms daily. You will create and
keep a daily chart on your organism’s growth and development.
Audience – You will provide your information
daily to the head zookeeper, Ms. Butterfly.
Your information will be provided for the general public as they visit
your areas.
Situation – Zoo
Group
#1 will have cats in the mammal class.
Group
#2 will have chickens in the bird class.
Group
#3 will have frogs in the amphibian class.
Group
#4 will have butterflies in the insect class.
Product/Performance – You will make a cycle
chart displaying and labeling the different developmental stages of various
families of living organisms. You will observe and monitor the development of
the selected living organisms during the life cycle. You will take data and
utilize a checklist during the changing cycles. You will also compare and
contrast the various life cycles by completing a Venn diagram.
