Performance Task-GRASP

Goal-You will correctly describe three different types of weather as if you were a weather forecaster.  You will need to inform each viewer the important information they need to know about each type of weather.  For example, if it is going to rain they would need an umbrella.

Role-You will be a weather forecaster.  You will focus on three types of    weather that is happening around the United States.  You will “forecast” the weather to your audience and include clothing, possible shelter, and anything else they may need.

Audience- You will be forecasting your weather to the Hartsfield/Jackson Airport which is full of travelers going to many different places across the United States.  Everyone needs need to know the weather at the destination and they need to know what to wear.

Situation- The airport is full of travelers that need to know what kind of weather they should expect at their final destination.  While they are waiting for their plane to leave they will be watching your weather show.  Along with the weather, they need to know what that weather means to them and their travel plans.  They need to know how to dress, what kind of shelter they may need, and what else they may find useful.  At the end of your forecast your audience will rate how accurate you were at explaining the weather.

Product/Performance- Throughout the unit you will be learning about all different types of weather.  You will pick three types of weather that you will “forecast” to an audience waiting for their plane at the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.  You will have a script to help guide you while you plan and give your performance.  You will be using the Smartboard with the United States map so that you can demonstrate where the weather will happen.
