Performance Task – GRASPS

Goal – To pull together the information learned about the different national holidays in order for students to think of appropriate celebrations of these holidays.

Role – You are the party planner.  You need to think about why these different national holidays are important.  With that information, you need to put together a portfolio of pictures that will illustrate what needs to happen when we celebrate these holidays.

Audience – You initial audience is the Mayor.  When your plans have been approved by the Mayor, you will be influencing how everyone in your city celebrates these national holidays.

Situation – The Mayor knows that you are an expert party planner that always has the important reasons for the party in mind.  They have sought you out in order to help them better celebrate the national holidays in your town.  You must make a proposal that celebrates the holidays, but also commemorates why these holidays are important.

Product/Performance – You will use magazine pictures, catalog pictures, and pictures from the internet to show your ideas for each of the eight national holidays that are celebrated in your town.  Each holiday celebration will be featured on its own page.  When you combine the pages together, you will have the portfolio to present to the Mayor.
