GRASPS � Performance Task
Goal � You will write a book about community helpers. Your book will explain how community helpers help us, how we help them and the tools they use to do their job.
Role � You will listen to the community helpers speak and ask them questions. Then you will choose one community helper to write about. You will be an author and create your own book about that community helper.
Audience � Your book will be a part of the classroom library and you will read part of it to your classmates and returning community helpers.
Situation - As an author, your job is to learn about community helpers. You will talk to community helpers who visit our class. You will also read books with the teacher and the class about community helpers. This is research that we will do to understand what community helpers do for us, how we help them do their jobs and the tools they use.
Product � Your book will show others everything you have learned about the community helper of your choice. You will draw pictures of that community helper and the tools they use to do their job. You will write about what community helpers do and how we cooperate to help them do their jobs. You will read your community helper book to our class, and you will also have a chance it to our community helpers on their second visit to our class.
