Performance Task – GRASPS
Goal – You will find out how an election process works. You will find out what positive traits a leader needs to possess to become elected.
Role – You will participate in a campaign and dedicate your time and energy to making sure your candidate gets elected.
Audience – You will be working to convince another second grade class at who the best candidate is to elect.
Situation – Your class needs a class president. You will be assigned to a group to create a fictitious character who will be voted on to become class president. Your group will present your candidate to another second grade class who will vote on which class president to elect.
Product/Performance- You will work with your group in creating an ideal candidate to be class president. Each group will be responsible for creating a campaign poster that lists the positive traits their candidate possesses as well as a list of rules that their candidate will enforce. Each group will also write a brief campaign speech that they will deliver to the other second grade class explaining why their candidate is the best person for the job. The class will work together as a whole in creating registration cards, ballots and a ballot box.
