Performance Task-GRASPS

Goal-You will know how to identify a solid, liquid, and gas.  You will discover how to change matter when tearing, melting, and dissolving are involved.

Role- You will be a journalist.  You will investigate the identity and changes in matter.  You will create an article for a magazine sharing your findings.

Audience- You are trying to get your article published in Mrs. May’s Matter Magazine.

Situation-Matter Magazine is the top magazine for getting the scoop on matter.  There is a problem…Mrs. May is running late on this month’s edition of Matter Magazine.  She is desperately looking for articles that can explain how to identify the common forms of matter and changes that can take place.  She is not only looking for a written explanation, but illustrations as well.  Only the best will appear in his month’s edition of Matter Magazine.

Product/Performance-You will do your best to give a written explanation and illustrate matter and changes that can occur.  Once Mrs. May has chosen the articles for her magazine it will be time to go to the publishers.  Once this month’s edition has been published it will go under review by fellow second grade classes.
