Date: 10/15/2008

Performance Task-
GRASPS
Goal- You will be able to summarize National American holidays.
Role- You will be a group of students. Together you will dress up and make props for the American holidays, incorporating information covered in class.
Audience- Your group will be presenting your holiday to the new international student who does not understand American holidays.
Situation- Maria is the new international student in class. She wants to learn more about National American holidays. Your job is to work as a group to incorporate the new ideas learned in class about holidays. Your group will create a presentation in which you creatively explain the importance of holidays, the background of the holidays, and how Americans celebrate these special holidays.
Product/Performance- Each student will be keeping a portfolio throughout the unit that will incorporate work samples, art, and writings. You can use this portfolio to think of ideas that we learned during this holiday unit. Then, as a group, you will create a presentation that includes clothing, props, and dialogue that will help Maria to understand the American holidays.
