Goal: Students need
to create a “hit” song about magnets.
They have to make the tune short, catchy and include 3 facts about
magnets. They also have to perform their
song for others, come up with a name of their singing group and create a CD cover to accompany their hit.
Role: The
students have to take on the role of singer/songwriters. They are responsible for creating the song
and making sure that they have at least 3 facts about magnets included. They also have to put together a performance
of their song.
Audience: Our
fellow Midway students are the audience.
Our songs must be catchy enough to entertain, but also contain the
necessary content to teach about magnets.
Situation: Our
class has been selected by the principal to record a hit song for their peers,
(schoolmates) to hear. The songs need to
include all that we have learned about magnets this year. It is up to us to create a catchy tune that
teaches others all about magnets.
Product: They
will write, practice and perform a short song about magnets. They also need to design a CD cover to their
go with their song showing their group name and title of their track.
Standard: Students will
be assessed by a rubric that addresses whether they included 3 facts in their
song, performed their song and created a CD cover with their group name and
song title included.
