Performance Task- GRASPS

 

Goal-  You will study and share information about the life of Benjamin Franklin. 

 

Role-  You will be an author and historian.  You will study and research Benjamin Franklin.  You will turn your information on Benjamin Franklin into a picture book about him.   

 

Audience-  You will be presenting your book to the other historians in the class. 

 

Situation-  There has been a terrible accident!  Some how The Library of Congress has misplaced every piece of information they had on the life of Benjamin Franklin.  They need some expert historians to rewrite and replace all the information they lost.  You will write a book about Benjamin Franklin’s life and accomplishments and illustrate it to put back into The Library of Congress.  

 

Product/Performance-  You will take notes, write facts, and thoughts daily in your journal about what you are learning about Benjamin Franklin.  You will pick one of his inventions to write about, one fact to write about his authorship, and one fact to write about his statesmanship.  You will also need to make an illustration for each page of your book.  Once you have finished your book, you will share it with the other authors in our class, media specialists from the Library of Congress, and your parents.
